GoodWorks 2010 Youth Awards

What is GoodWorks Youth Awards?
- In its 2nd year, it is an awards effort developed to recognize youth in the region that are doing extraordinary “good works” in the areas of the environment, education, and/or diversity.
- Each winner will receive a special award at the ceremony. Awards ceremony highlights will be featured on an episode of the TV talk show, GoodWorks with Rahman Khan, shown on WTVI.
- The awards ceremony will be held on May 14th, 2010 at Mint Museum of Art.
- Registration to attend the event is between March 31 and May 7. Check back to register online!
Criteria for All Nominees
Must live in the Charlotte, Mecklenburg County or surrounding counties.
Must have a good work that is:
- Creating a better and more sustainable environment;
(i.e. Greening neighborhoods, schools, businesses, faith institutions),
- Enhancing or developing effective educational efforts;
(i.e. Lasting mentoring, tutoring, or reading programs,)
- Building or sustaining groups that are more appreciative of and sensitive to diversity.
(i.e. Diversity forums, discussions, program and policy development)
Youth must be a middle or high school student.
Activity should be:
- youth initiated,
- unique,
- reproducible and/or transferable,
- impactful,
- extraordinary
Activity shouldn’t solely benefit a family member, be a project simply for IB or a school-mandated service requirement, nor have happened before April 2009.
